Cheap Hotels in Akureyri

The largest urban area outside of Reykjavik, Akureyri is home to about 17,000 people. The University of Akureyri is located here and, like many college towns, the city as a result has a youthful feel about it, with plenty of bars, cafes, and restaurants to choose from. Along with a larger population come more hotel choices than you’ll find in other towns outside of Reykjavik, so it makes for a good base for exploring the northern regions around Lake Myvatn, Husavik, and Godafoss.
